L’île d’Yvoir has plenty of surprises in store
There is no shortage of islands on the Meuse, home to wildlife and plant life and beautiful to look at. Unfortunately, most of the time, these stretches of land rising out of the water are inaccessible to the public, who can only admire them from the riverbanks. There is one exception, however: Yvoir. A haven of peace for young and old alike for almost 100 years.
A harmonious balance between nature and visitors
The island is unique in that it has been used for tourism in Belgium since the 1930s. Yet this 900-metre stretch of land remains a natural refuge for the wildlife and plant life of the Meuse Valley.
Part of the island has also been classified as a Natura 2000 site by the Walloon Region. You may come across geese and swans, sometimes nesting on their eggs. Here, animals and visitors coexist in harmony, as long as they are not disturbed.
The other half of this natural haven is dedicated to leisure and enjoyment for all ages. Children spend hours in the playground and on its pirate ship. Younger children can splash around in the paddling pool under their parents’ watchful eye. There is not a grain of sand on L’île d’Yvoir, only grass. But as soon as the sun comes out, the lawn suddenly turns into a real beach where you can lay down your towel. Prefer activities on the water? On the watersports side, L’île d’Yvoir offers plenty of opportunities, from stand-up paddleboarding to water skiing and wakeboarding. No need to be an experienced captain to enjoy the Meuse.
The story behind the island project
Arnaud Baudoin spent many weekends there, enjoying moments of deep connection with nature and summer days discovering the pleasures of watersports. For him, L'Île d’Yvoir is like a huge treasure chest of memories, filled with emotions to cherish.
So when Daniel Nahon, the former manager, expressed his wish to step away from running the island in 2022, it did not take Arnaud long to decide to take over the project.
Captivated by the magic of this place, for which he feels a very special affection, he is now fully committed to helping its story continue to thrive and to offering both the people of Yvoir and passing visitors an authentic and memorable experience.
An exceptional site
The island team is made up of local people, all passionate about their work and about the island itself. From the restaurant to the watersports activities, every member of our ecosystem shares the values that lie at the heart of our project:

Our vision? To turn the island into a true haven of peace, open to everyone, whatever their age or background. We want to offer a place where families can spend a full day, enjoy a wide range of activities and find rest in a calm, restorative setting. In the heart of the natural beauty of the Yvoir region, an exceptional site is ready to welcome you.
